Wow Your Interviewer After the Interview

So you've prepped, practiced and prepped some more for your upcoming interview. Now, you just need to wow them once, and your work will be done, right? Wrong. What you do after your interview is as important as what you do during it. The main thing is to stay consistent with your personal brand. Here's how.

Be polite, stay professional
Without a doubt, the tone you'll take during your interview will be one of great professionalism. One that shows them you’re a calm, capable person willing to go above and beyond to do the job -- to do what's best for the company. Once the interview is over, you can go above and beyond with a nice thank you note to your interviewer. Thank them for their time, and keep that professional tone. No smiley-face emoticons, and no slang.

Be, well...you
The positive qualities and attributes you show in your interview must make a reappearance if the interviewer contacts you again. Just as you arrive promptly for your interview, be prompt in your responses after the fact, whether you're returning a phone call or an email. Just as you listen to what they have to say before giving your answer during your interview, make sure you pay close attention to what they need or want after the interview, then provide them with an answer. Continue to convey the message that you're interested in the job opportunity, excited for it and equipped with the tools you need to excel at it.

Look the part
If you're called in for subsequent interviews, it's important to continue dressing for the part. Just because this is the second or third time meeting with someone doesn't mean it's ok to show up in way-too-casual clothing. Even if the office you're hoping to become a part of is more on the casual side, it's best to overdress. Then, once you're officially a part of the team, dress the way the rest of the team does.

When you keep it consistent, your potential employer has an idea of what they can expect from you in the future. Show them you're someone they can count on time after time, and they could choose to do just that.
