VP of Finance Systems
Location: Chicago, IL; or Des Moines, IA; or Toronto, Ontario
Job Type: Direct hire
Salary/Rate: $150,000 plus bonus
Description
Our client is currently looking to hire a VP of Finance Systems who will be responsible for scoping, planning and deploying/delivering the required system solutions supporting Finance Transformation change. This role is the key finance systems executive for North America, and will lead all aspects, implementation and staffing of the North America shared services model for finance.
Within specific businesses, this role is expected to:
- Lead all aspects of Finance Transformation systems—specifically large ERP implementations
- Deliver the targeted finance system solutions for all businesses
- Establish IT plans in support of business strategies
- Consult and collaborate with business leaders to support business initiatives by leveraging technology investments and capabilities
- Work closely with finance leadership to establish finance shared services
- Manage third-party/offshore IT service providers delivering finance systems services to the program
- Ultimately, be solely responsible for the successful delivery of finance systems capability to the entire finance community
Skills/Knowledge
- Effectively communicate with, and serve as liaison for both finance and technology management teams
- Strong project management experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience with financial processes
- Be able to perform synergistic integration of diverse functional areas
- Ability to work with large teams and diverse skill sets
- Knowledge of the financial services industry
- Ability to work well with client servers, databases and Web-based client server applications
- Understanding of financial accounting, budget/planning and reporting tools
- Substantial knowledge of financial processes and enterprise-wide, best-of-breed technology
- Solid understanding of external trends with regards to financial process optimization
- Ability to manage external third-party relationships
Experience
Candidate should have 10+ years in a progressive leadership role, specifically in the areas of information technology, solution delivery, finance, and/or project management.
- Experience with leading large finance systems implementations; with significant accounting, process re-engineering, systems and people change components (ERP)
- Experience working in and managing complex, matrixed organizations
- Experience defining and negotiating contracts and service-level agreements
- Preferably, experienced in both life & annuity and general insurance
- Experienced in initiating, leading and successfully completing major systems initiatives
- Experience with working in a multi-cultural environment
- Experienced in leading virtual project teams
- Has had exposure to international insurance markets
- Possesses full understanding of international insurance accounting including IFRS and EEV
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
- An accounting designation is preferred (i.e. CA, CMA, CFA, CPA, or CGA)
