HONDA
Offshore Software Development, Local Project Management
Honda Global required new software to enable it to manage the qualifications, past training record and future training requirements of every dealership employee globally. The application of the new Learning Management System (LMS), which was implemented by Harvey Nash Software Development, will set Honda on track to meet its target of providing 12,000 annual man-days of commercial and technical training in the U.K. alone. The LMS was project managed in the U.K., with software development and testing carried out by Harvey Nash’s offshore team in Hanoi, Vietnam. The system is primarily based on IBM WebSphere technology running on an MS Windows platform. LMS is designed for the Honda Institute, the division of Honda U.K. tasked with providing personal development programs for Honda employees, and has replaced the current Training Administration System (TAS), which has been employed since 1991. The Results The global scalability of the Learning Management System means that its successful application in the U.K. has lead to its rollout throughout Europe, Japan and the rest of the world.
