Title: Head of Multi Channel, (E-Commerce)

Reporting to: CIO Designate

Location: East Midlands

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head of Multi Channel (E-Commerce) will work within the Travis Perkins Group Technology organisation reporting to the CIO Designate. The role will have a group wide remit ensuring the development of a technology enabled robust and scalable multi channel sales approach and subsequent adoption. The current Travis Perkins group companies are:

  • CCF (Commercial Ceiling Factors)
  • Benchmarx
  • Tile Giant
  • Toolstation

The Multi Channel function is one of the key areas that the group has identified as a growth opportunity. The Head of Multi Channel (e-business) will create a solution that will allow the group to capitalise on a significant revenue stream and create a group wide multi channel strategy developing a robust e-commerce solution and flexible, secure and profitable sales channels.

With this context in mind, and working closely with the key Business Units in the Group, the Head of Multi Channel is accountable for all aspects of the planning, management, delivery and operation of the full range of E-Business services to support the business.

The overall goal of the role is to deliver an industry-leading E-Business Capability that will enable Travis Perkins to capitalise on this channel to the full.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with all the Travis Perkins businesses to develop, identify, evaluate and propose multi channel solutions/strategy with particular emphasis on new ideas and creative solutions.
  • Create a group wide multi channel solution that will allow all the business to capitalise on a flexible and robust e-commerce platform enabling significant growth
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of relevant technologies and seek IT-based innovations which could be employed to improve competitive positioning, profitability and customer service, promoting the use of these within appropriate parts of the group.
  • Deliver the e-business and multi channel projects within the development programme to budget, to time and to an appropriately high level of quality.
  • Define, implement and monitor the use of the processes and procedures that are to be used to develop the IT systems and to provide for their on-going enhancement and support.
  • Develop relationships with appropriate third party providers for the provision of suitable solutions
  • Establish good working relationships at all levels within the group and provide the business leadership teams with guidance on the effective use of e-business within their businesses.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Career must demonstrate success in leading complex Multi-channel e-Commerce / e-Business transformation programmes
  • Extensive experience in commercial internet development and operations across a broad range of application classes, ideally to include both eCommerce and Retail
  • Significant experience managing systems integration / outsourced web technology / development and operations and clear view how to obtain best mix of output vs value for money.
  • Third party negotiation, selection and management
  • Experience of a variety of E-Business operating models, development approaches, traditional and emerging hosting solutions
  • Experience of working in large, complex organisations but with the enthusiasm, energy, entrepreneurial outlook and credibility to get the right things done rapidly
  • Strong interpersonal skills and advanced self awareness
  • Highly credible, accountable and robust in character
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a strong customer focus
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject
