JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose
- As a member of the leadership team, to contribute actively to the strategic direction and overall performance of the organisation.
- To be responsible for the organisation’s financial performance, providing strategic financial leadership so as to ensure that the NSPCC continues to be financially strong and well placed to fulfil its aims.
- To ensure that strong financial, asset and contract management disciplines are embedded throughout the organisation.
- To ensure that support services are delivered in a highly effective way and that the benefits of investment, particularly in IT, are maximised.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Finance
- To develop a financial strategy that optimises the use of resources.
- To lead the Finance Directorate providing functional direction in such matters as financial business planning and financial reporting (management and statutory).
- To oversee the implementation of effective planning control and performance monitoring and reporting systems in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements – notably the requirements of the Charity Commission – and best practice.
- To provide high quality reports and analysis to the trustee board and relevant committees and establish excellent relationships with members.
- To increase commercial and financial awareness across the organisation by ensuring the provision of appropriate financial analysis, information, support and a high quality service to other parts of the organisation.
Corporate Services
- To promote a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence throughout Corporate Services.
- To develop and maintain a fit for purpose Procurement Strategy for the whole organisation and maximise value through best practice in contract form, negotiation and management
- To lead the development and implementation of an appropriate Information Strategy, which supports the delivery of the NSPCC’s vision and key objectives
- To lead the development and delivery of the estates capital investment/asset strategy.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
This is a key role in the organisation and an exceptional finance professional is required. Candidates should have:
Qualifications
- A professional accountancy qualification is highly desirable.
Experience and skills
- A successful track record of working in a financial leadership role at Board and Executive Management level.
- Strong financial management and analysis skills gained in a complex organisation.
- A successful track record of managing and developing IT services with an understanding of the importance of IT systems in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Experience of working in a multi stakeholder environment.
- Demonstrable evidence of commercial focus.
- Demonstrable commitment to developing a strong financial culture and driving change through the organisation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience of managing and motivating staff
