Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in the Director of Workforce & Organisational Development position at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust.

We are the main provider of secondary acute care to our local population of 320,000 in Kingston, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney and other parts of South West London. With an annual budget of approximately £170 million, 500 beds and 2,600 staff, the Trust is well on its way to achieving Foundation Trust status to enable even greater emphasis to be given to the services our community and patients really need. Foundation Trust authorisation is expected by Summer 2008.

We have excellent links with Kingston University as an educational partner and a desire to support more closely our staff in delivering and supporting front line care so we can further develop our services to meet the growing needs of our local communities. As such, I believe it is a hugely exciting time to join us.

We have been developing our HR & Workforce practices to achieve innovation and impact. We have made significant strides over recent years to truly develop and empower staff at all levels and in all professional, clinical and corporate areas across the Trust. The Trust has made good progress on meeting national performance targets and the HR Directorate has played an important role in supporting staff and managers across the organisation to achieve this.

With Foundation Trust status anticipated this year, there is a chance for the new Director of Workforce and OD to build on the sound underpinning that exists and drive forward policies and practices that enhance our reputation for excellent patient care, as well as developing and supporting all of our talented staff.

We are looking for individuals who have strong skills for bringing about and sustaining change and development. A natural collaborator with an engaging leadership style, you will play a part across the Trust’s Executive Management in shaping and securing our ability to achieve excellence in clinical service quality as well as achieving benefits around efficiency and flexibility for our workforce.

Whatever your professional background, public sector, commercial or the NHS, the Trust Board is looking for a talented and driven colleague, who will lead our Workforce agenda internally and with our key external partners across the region and nationally.

With a collegiate and committed Executive Team and Trust Board - our culture is dynamic, ambitious, challenging yet truly supportive and developmental.

For more information about the role, the Trust, the vision we are striving for in our Workforce Strategy , our outlook and commitments in becoming a Foundation Trust and of course details about the area we are based in, please view the attached information on this Microsite.

If you wish to discuss the role in more depth, please contact Frank McKenna, Director of NHS & Healthcare, at Harvey Nash plc, who are acting as our advisors on this appointment.

I look forward to receiving your application.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely
