Creating sustainable communities
We are committed to creating sustainable communities - inclusive places where people want to live, now and in the future. In 2002 we set up The Hyde Commission to research and establish a set of principles for Hyde and our partners. They act as guidelines, ensuring social, economic and environmental sustainability are realised in all our new large-scale projects.
The principles are already playing a role in the way we work and will continue to be refined. In Ashford and the Thames Gateway, both growth areas identified in the Government’s Sustainable Communities Plan, we are using the principles to develop new management models and to influence the way schemes are designed and developed.
