Head of IT Operations

The University of Derby IT Services Division provides resources, systems and technology to support academic and corporate processes of the University. We aim to improve the quality of learning, teaching and assessment, developing and applying new approaches, and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the management of the University through IT systems.

Following a significant reshaping of the Division, we are now looking to complete our Senior Team by appointing a new Head of IT Operations. Reporting to the Director of IT Services, the Head of IT Operations will make a major contribution to the overall strategic direction, planning and management of the IT Services Division and provide the technology infrastructure to support our learning, teaching and corporate services.

Central to the role is the development and maintenance of the technology infrastructure to meet the performance, reliability and resilience needs of the Institution. Combining this with the delivery of enterprise-class, corporate applications will require a broad range of skills and the ability to drive change at the heart of our service.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and results-driven professional, with first class strategic management and leadership skills. You will have extensive experience in IT Infrastructure and Applications management, a successful track record in team management, plus excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
