ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Specific knowledge and experience for this job:

  • A degree level education or relevant professional qualification (preferably in a technical, financial, or business related field)
  • Strong commercial awareness based on experience of having designed, delivered and managed commercial projects and arrangements
  • Demonstrable expertise in commercial management and contract implementation in a commercial environment
  • Proven insight into, and understanding of, the developing energy sector in the UK with ideally specific industry experience in the energy efficiency and renewable energy field
  • Significant experience in the successful financing and delivery of major capital projects
  • High level advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a proven ability to influence at senior levels
  • People management skills, with an ability to manage and develop staff
  • Self starter and able to promote collaborative working
  • Significant project management experience with a track record of operational delivery against challenging deadlines
  • Experience of successful partnership working

Specific knowledge and experience for this job:

  • Knowledge of Bristol’s track record in developing and delivering sustainable energy initiatives
  • Developed understanding of the policy framework for energy efficiency and renewable energy, particularly the Green Deal, the Energy Company Obligation, Feed-In-Tariffs and the Renewable Heat Obligation
  • Technical knowledge of energy performance of buildings, building data analysis, district energy schemes and renewable energy technologies
  • Experience of developing and delivering consumer/householder-facing marketing and sales activities and services
  • Commitment to the objectives of achieving significant carbon reductions in Bristol and tackling deprivation through improved building energy performance
  • Knowledge and experience of planning policies and procedures and the role environmental objectives can play within

Knowledge and Experience:

A demonstrable, successful track record of:

  • Experience of managing large-scale building refurbishment initiatives, particularly in circumstances where buildings remained occupied during refurbishment
  • Experience of overseeing public sector procurement processes and contract management
