Inspiring breakfast event with Motivationsbyrån

We at Harvey Nash wish to thank Johan Book founder of company Motivationsbyrån and everyone who attended our event on Friday last week.

On Friday June 2nd, Harvey Nash in Malmö hosted a breakfast event at venue Studio - a unique location where innovation meets business, networking and culture.

Studies show that between seven to nine out of ten strategy reforms fail, leadership is getting worse, only 16 percent of Swedish employees feel engaged in their work, job-related illness is on the rise and trust in management teams is at an all-time low. Therefore, it felt right on point to invite Motivationsbyrån and Johan Book to talk to us and a group of specially invited guests, about what we can do to help avoid or even help turn this trend around.

Johan shared insights and tips on how to get companies to transform their strategies into concrete actions while keeping employees motivated and engaged. Johan's mission is to help realize work-related psychology research in working life, thereby creating increased motivation, performance and results. Research furthermore shows that the manager is the single most important factor in the pursuit of creating preconditions for the valuable motivation of employees. Studies and research show that failure of strategy and transformation initiatives is due to the lack of communication from the immediate manager and management. Motivated and committed employees are associated with improved work performance and increased financial performance.

The keys that Johan talked about is the importance of setting clear goals, involving the employees in setting goals, working on continuous follow-up and feedback, involving everyone in formulating the goals, as well as showing empathy, consideration and appreciation. Research shows that companies with dedicated and engaged employees have less sick leave, perform better and, are on average 22 percent more profitable than their competitors.

So, to succeed in the quest to stay ahead, challenge the competition and find profitability ensure that the right leadership is in place. Proper leadership creates the right conditions for employees to stay engaged and contribute with innovative ideas, knowledge and commitment to success.
