Harvey Nash working towards the National Equality Standard

Harvey Nash takes part in one of the UK’s most rigorous and prestigious Standards for diversity and inclusiveness.

At Harvey Nash Group it is our vision to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed, where there are no barriers to people reaching their full potential.

We aspire to be transparent, fair, brave, and inclusive. And above all we want Harvey Nash to be a place where people can truly succeed as themselves, regardless of their race, age, gender, religion or belief, sexual orientation or disability.

That is why we are taking one very important step in our UK operations in making this vision a reality: we are now working towards the National Equality Standard (NES).

The NES sets clear equality, diversity and inclusion criteria against which organisations are assessed. It was developed by EY in partnership with a number of global brands and is supported by the Home Office and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) was also involved in its development and launch.

Head of Assessment Delivery and our Lead Auditor Jo Heath said: “Since commencing work with Harvey Nash I have been very impressed with the progress made. Appropriate governance is now in place, the business case for diversity is now fully defined and a number of inclusion objectives have been implemented.”

To be awarded the NES, each company will undertake a robust assessment against a defined set of criteria across seven standards. Trained NES assessors will review documentation, ensure legal compliance, conduct comprehensive interviews and sample staff through in-depth surveys. The outcome will be detailed in a comprehensive report.

Albert Ellis, CEO Harvey Nash Group said: “The speed of change in our world is breath-taking and diversity and inclusion is at the forefront of this wave. By signing up to the NES, our aim is to create an environment and culture that increases opportunity for all. This is not just great for those who are looking for more, but for everyone. Inclusive, diverse, and fair businesses are proven be more successful - whether that’s through profit, shareholder value or employee satisfaction - and everyone can share in that success.”

Arun Batra, CEO of the NES said: “Harvey Nash are one of many UK businesses that have recognised the value in being externally validated by EY to ensure its efforts towards exceptional practice in diversity are fully integrated into its business operations”.
