Born in Lanarkshire, Iain was educated at Glasgow High School whose former pupils include two past Prime Ministers - Henry Campbell Bannerman and Andrew Bonar Law. After graduating in Economics (with Manpower Studies), Iain joined Bass plc as a Trainee Business Systems Analyst. During his initial two-year training programme, he successfully obtained accreditation to the Institute of Personnel Management and became fully certified in SSADM – Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodologies.
Following a number of promotions within the Brewing, Hotels and Retail Divisions, Iain was appointed Head of IT Bass Leisure where he had direct responsibility for the Computer Operations, Application Support, Help Desk and IT Training functions. In this role, he dealt extensively with 3rd party suppliers, sitting on an IT Committee comprising all of the main Board Directors from the Leisure Division.
In 1994, Iain joined Spring.com – a technology staffing business - where he had responsibility for fully-managed recruitment services, from workforce utilisation to executive search. During the next three years, Iain successfully delivered over 30 recruitment campaigns for private and public sector organisations.
In 1998, Iain joined Harvey Nash as a Senior Consultant providing both search and executive selection services to customers across the UK. He has successfully completed senior appointments, consistently operating at board level across Public & Private Sectors.
During the past ten years, Iain has successfully delivered IT Director / CIO appointments for many blue-chip UK organisations – across a number of industry sectors. A Director of the UK CIO / CTO Practice, he has placed IT Directors for over almost a decade and can produce delivery testimonials from a number of Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors, Human Resource Directors and Finance Directors.
