“The relationship between CEO and his or her CFO is absolutely critical; they must be able to trust, respect and challenge each other,” explains Carol, who joined Harvey Nash in 2006 to lead our dedicated CFO practice. “What I bring to clients is the emotional intelligence to make sure the chemistry is right, based on really getting to know the client and the candidate as individuals.”
Carol has a blue chip background, having headed up a series of recruitment offices in the South of England with clients ranging from large PLCs to small SMEs, and from industries as diverse as Motorola, Rolls Royce, Anchor Foods and British Aerospace. Looking for a dynamic expert to set up their first designated search and selection function in the South, Deloitte & Touche poached Carol from the South West office of Harrison Willis in 1997. Three successful years later, she began a five year stint heading the UK Southern business unit of KPMG Search & Selection, placing CFOs, CEOs and MDs. Boundlessly enthusiastic about her work, she is justifiably proud that many of her candidates have become clients.
Her talent for dealing with people and attention to detail became apparent early on. Working for a travel company in the late 80s, she used her language skills and troubleshooting abilities to turn dissatisfied German clients into contented ones.
Equally passionate about her home – it’s featured in glossy interior design publications she also loves to travel. Following on from her trip along Route 66, the next Harley trip is from San Diego to San Francisco on Highway 101 later this year.
