The Finance IT team sits within IT Global Business Services and Corporate Centre. This is a cross-functional team made up of the core global functions within Deutsche Post: HR, Finance, Corporate Services as well as some specific supporting functions including: Strategy and Planning, Architecture and Infrastructure. Lastly, the team has regional representation in the Americas, Asia Pacific and EEMEA.
Finance as a customer is global and is made up of a number of vertical areas including: Finance Operations, Finance, Corporate Accounting and Controlling, Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, Tax and Services Finance. There are a number of strategic projects running with a total estimated project value of multiple million Euros.
The team is driving a challenging agenda in getting closer to their customer and becoming more respected & trusted. They hope to be recognized as a having a value based agenda being proactive & results oriented.
The team ethic is professional and disciplined, expecting their colleagues to take personal responsibility for their actions; answering questions directly but also providing insights to their customers.
The current organization structure is new and is forming. The team is made up of some highly experienced customer facing program managers but there is an acknowledged gap in the talent below this team and obvious consequential lack of succession.
The gaps exist almost across the entire team and range from: PMO, junior project managers, project managers, senior project managers and program delivery. Consistent throughout the requirements are the need to find people that have strong business engagement skills/relationship management skills, flexible and agile in their approach, are delivery focused and are able to lead, manage and motivate. Candidates will also need to be comfortable working in a complex, matrix environment where the need to influence outcome through persuasion and strong argument. Candidates whose background has a mixture of a consulting and industry background will be favored.
The Head of the Program and Project Management Office, a position which will be newly build, should plan and implement a process strategy for the operational project management. He is as well responsible for the efficient and effective running of all projects and supports the Program and Project Management on a senior level.
Your tasks:
- Ensure the creation of the formal technical statements of requirements and associated tests within the project
- Oversee the delivery and monitors progression of the project within the time, cost and quality constraints
- Build working relationship with sponsors, business managers and key users to resolve issues in priority, requirement or scope conflicts
- Effectively estimate costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to an agreed scope
- Ensure coherence of the project, by managing and monitoring changes in all project phases and activities
- Report timely and accurately on progress, issues and risks
- Ensure transition of the project from a build phase to a run phase
- Ensure the delivery of assigned projects within the time, cost and quality constraints through rigorous application of internal and external supplier
- Performance management
- Build working relationship with Solutions Support teams in IT Services to agree and manage the deployment schedule of the project, and resolve any points of escalation
- Establish and manage relationships with vendors of third party packaged software solutions for effective deployment of vendor managed project activities
Your qualification:
- 5 to 10 years experience in managing large projects at the relevant level
- Directing/coordinating work among the IT stream team members, as well as the ability to lead by example
- Significant experience with Finance and Controlling processes and SAP, Oracle and Billing project management Familiar with following technical environment:
- Databases: Informix, Oracle, SQL
- Financial Applications: Oracle Financials, SAP FI-CO,
- High level understanding of the technical aspects of SAP FI CO, Oracle
- Financials and Billing and interfacing with legacy systems
- Fluent in English, preferably also a second language in Europe
- Willing to travel frequently
- Strong team player, with strong sense for initiative
- Must be able to facilitate meetings and discussions
- Have strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to build and manage a strong partner/supplier system
Keen understanding and perspective of technology and services and their value and application to finance operations
