WPPT-Systems, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, is one of the leading service providers for information and communications technology (ICT) in Europe.

It employs 51,000 staff. The head office of T-Systems Switzerland is in Zollikofen near Berne. The company provides IT-infrastructure services, systems integration consultancy, networking services and Business Process Outsourcing to its blue-chip customers in more than 20 countries.

Because of the nature of its business, T-Systems relies heavily on contractors. The systems integration business, in particular, often requires people with specialist know-how at short notice, and because internal resources are usually fully utilised, getting the right skills in the right place at the right time can be a challenge.

T-Systems Switzerland is proving particularly effective at winning new customers in the banking sector, and it is this sector of its business that is driving its need to recruit additional permanent staff, as well as contractors.

It also relies on Harvey Nash to help it fulfil its recruitment needs.

“Through its international network, Harvey Nash has access to a huge resource pool, and always responds to our briefs quickly with high-calibre candidates, at a competitive price,” says Barbara Bourouba, general manager, human resources, T-Systems Switzerland.

Because they are representing T-Systems to clients, it is important that contractors have strong social as well as technical skills. “The contractors we employ must behave in a polite and professional manner towards both us as principal contractor and to our customers, because they have to work as a team with our own fully-employed staff,” explains Bourouba. “Harvey Nash is very good at weeding out people who don’t meet our exacting criteria, which saves us a lot of time when recruiting.”

Harvey Nash was recommended to T-Systems by a personal contact. “They are professional and flexible, and have proved to be a valuable and reliable partner for us,” concludes Bourouba.
