The issues discussed on the night included ensuring enough female candidates are put forward for board level positions and the pressures on women to make tough choices in their careers, particularly in the Asia Pacific region where the matter of balancing dual careers and the need for constant mobility present daily challenges for many.
The key note speaker Umran Beba, President Asia Pacific from PepsiCo gave a very passionate and insightful speech regarding her experiences and challenges building a diverse leadership team in the region, as well as sharing her personal views on what women can do further to prepare themselves for the responsibilities of the boardroom.
Carol Rosati, Co-Founder of Inspire, who joined from the London office, welcomed the guests as new members of Inspire - a network that now spans across America, Europe and Asia Pacific with a membership of more than 3,000 top female leaders.
Harvey Nash's Kirti Lad outlined the future direction of the Inspire network as a powerful platform for change. She emphasised the network's commitment to making a change in society, to encourage women to put themselves forward for board level positions and engaging companies to get behind their female leaders to offer their full support.
Over the course of the coming months members of Inspire will have the opportunity to get involved in a very exciting initative to help shape women leaders of the future - further details will be announced in due course so stay tuned. The feedback from guests was fantastic, demonstrating just how much benefit women leaders gain from meeting their peers from other industries to share best practice.
We cannot wait for our next Inspire event planned for early 2013.
